Grand Rapids’ newest outdoor entertainment venue now has a signature sound. Acrisure Amphitheater has unveiled its official theme song, written by acclaimed composer Hugo Bombardier and performed by student musicians from the Grand Valley State University (GVSU) Symphony Orchestra.
The original orchestral piece was commissioned by the Grand Rapids-Kent County Convention/Arena Authority (CAA) and captures the spirit and vision of Acrisure Amphitheater: world-class arts and entertainment brought to life through community, creativity, and collaboration.
In January 2026, over 60 GVSU student musicians participated in a two-day professional studio recording session at The Creative Lab, performing string, wind, brass, and percussion tracks to produce a full, high-quality symphonic soundtrack. For many students, this project marked their first experience in a professional recording studio, offering valuable exposure to industry standards while encouraging them to envision future professional opportunities.
“The GVSU Symphony Orchestra was honored to record the official theme song commemorating the launch of Acrisure Amphitheater,” said Dr. Joel Schut, Director of Orchestras at Grand Valley State University. “Composer Hugo Bombardier was amazing to work with alongside the outstanding production team comprised of both local and national talent. The GVSU Symphony feels a deep sense of pride contributing to a project that reflects the continued growth and innovation in downtown Grand Rapids. Special thanks to Rich MacKeigan for his leadership in bringing this project from idea to reality. We can’t wait to hear the GVSU Symphony help welcome world-class artists to West Michigan.”
The Signature Song is a dynamic classical orchestral piece that evolves through multiple musical styles. Reflecting the diversity of Acrisure Amphitheater’s inaugural season lineup, the composition weaves together elements of country, Latin, rock, and hip-hop, creating a vibrant and contemporary sound.
“A project like this showcases what’s possible when community and collaboration come together,” said Richard MacKeigan, General Manager of Acrisure Amphitheater. “Partnering with GVSU elevated the artistic quality of this piece while creating a unique opportunity to feature incredible local talent. We’re proud to support the arts and celebrate the creative energy that defines West Michigan.”
The collaboration highlights a shared commitment to fostering local talent while strengthening Grand Rapids’ arts and entertainment scene. As anticipation builds for the Amphitheater’s grand opening, the Signature Song stands as a lasting symbol of innovation, partnership, and community pride.
The new sound will be featured across a variety of digital platforms, helping define the brand of the new amphitheater. On-site, it will greet guests as they enter Acrisure Amphitheater for each event, cultivating a vibrant entertainment experience and aiming to become a lasting part of the memories created for years to come.
